Rebeca Omordia

About the artist

Born in Romania, Rebeca Omordia studied at the National Music University in Bucharest, from 2002- 2006, with the well- known pianist and teacher Dana Borsan. During her studying years in Bucharest, she won many prizes at national and international piano competitions: 2005 – Semifinalist in “G. Enescu” International Piano Competition, Bucharest, 2004 – “Ina Macarie” Grand Prize at “Ina Macarie” National Piano Competition, Bucharest, 2003: First Prize at “Mihail Jora” National Music Competition, Bucharest, 2001, 2002: First Prize at “Pro Piano” International Piano Competition, Bucharest, 2002: First Prize at the National Music Olympics.

She also took part in summer schools and piano Master classes with well-known pianists and professors: 2006 – M. Kazahevich ( Trinity College in London), 2005 Dominique Merlet (Villecroze Academy), Gerlinde Otto (Weimar Conservatoire); 2004 –Mark Racz (Birmingham Conservatoire); 2002 – 2004 –Dana Borsan (National Music University , Bucharest), 2001, 2006 – Gabriel Amiras (Trossingen).

Rebeca has played solo and with orchestras at prestigious venues in: Royal Conservatory in Bruxelles (2005), Helsinki (White Hall and Tempeliaukio Church, 2001), Vienna (Romanian Cultural Centre, 2002), Bucharest (Romanian Athenaeum, 2002, National Music University, 2002 – 2006), Craiova (“Oltenia” Philarmonic, 1999 –2005), Pitesti (2001), Oradea ( Oradea Philarmonic 2002 – 2004), Turnu Severin (2000), Arad (2001), etc

Currently she is a postgraduate student at the Birmingham City University’s Conservatoire, under the coordination of professors Malcolm Wilson (Head of the Keyboard Studies) and Mark Racz (Vice-president of the Birmingham Conservatoire).
